The mesothelium forms the sac that contains our internal organs. It protects and lubricates the natural movement of our lungs, diaphragm and other organs when we move and breathe. It is divided into two sections; the pleura that lines the chest wall above the diaphragm and the peritoneum that lines the abdominal cavity.
Mesothelioma is cancer of this sac.
Pleural Mesothelioma is cancer of the pleura.
Peritoneal Mesothelioma is cancer of the peritoneum.
Symptoms may not appear until as long as 50 years after exposure to asbestos. The symptoms may be; shortness of breath due to compression in the chest cavity, weight loss, pain, abdominal swelling due to tumor growth or fluid accumulation, bowel obstruction, and additional symptoms if the tumor has progressed outside the mesothelium. Mesothelioma is not usually diagnosed until it has developed aggressive symptoms and is in stage 3 or 4 which offers no viable curative treatment by conventional means.
If you consider that virtually ‘everyone’ over 10 years old has been exposed to asbestos which ’causes’ mesothelioma, by breathing the dust from automobile brakes on a city street. If you consider an auto mechanic that used an air hose to clean the brakes during a repair procedure and breathed in millions of particles of asbestos. Did he get mesothelioma? The fact that mesothelioma is very rare should suggest that there is something more involved than the exposure to asbestos that ’causes’ mesothelioma to develop. The good news is that this is true. Alternative cancer circles know that all cancer, regardless of type, develops because the person’s immune system has not destroyed the cancer cells as they were formed, which is the normal function of a healthy immune system, killing ‘10,000’ cancer cells every day.
Even in later stages of cancer, the immune system can often be restored to eliminate cancer. This is little considered in conventional medical practice but it is the focus of alternative medical cancer treatments that have delivered thousands of people from the hopelessness of the words, “There is nothing more that we can do.” Those words were spoken to this writer in 1966. He is still cancer free as of this writing in 2005. Of course, nobody can guarantee a ‘cure’ but most people who use a comprehensive alternative cancer treatment, experience remission, usually for a lifetime, if they stay with the changes in their lifestyle that delivered them.
