The nature of mesothelioma is such that much support is needed by the patient and family to see them through the situation. This is especially true because of the poor prognosis of one year to live after diagnosis. Depending upon the particular nature and beliefs of the people involved, support may be had from many sources, including the clergy, family, friends, and institutions.
There are many resources for help online. Educational materials, telephone support, personalized medical news, online discussions, message boards, and one on one consultation with trained counselors is available.
Also, there is available, information on community care resources, and access to social workers.
